2008 marks the 10th anniversary of the Advance One artist project. The first tracks under the Advance One name were written in December 1998, although it was not until 3 years later that any were released on the Web, beginning with "Falling" in 2001.
To mark the occasion, this year will see the release of Advance One - "Advanced": an album of new versions of various tracks from the past 10 years. As always, the album will be a free download from the Audio Transition website.
A new artist project is also planned for 2008 with the release of a new album which mixes uplifting hardcore and trance. More details and downloads will be available later in the year.

The new Advance One album "Time To Wait" is now available in a free Album Pack.
The Album Pack contains all the tracks from the Time To Wait album in one easy-to-download ZIP file. The pack contains all 12 album MP3s at higher quality (320kbps) than previously available, and also includes an exclusive bonus track "Insane and Able".

Advance One - Time To Wait album RELEASED

The new Advance One album "Time To Wait" has now been released and is available to download free from Audio Transition.
Over a year in the making, the sixth album released online from Advance One is a more varied, more experimental and more personal album.
The album offers a mixture of uplifting and dark trance, electro, and ambient tracks.
There were many different sources of inspiration for the tracks on this album, but particular tracks were inspired by electronic artists such as Ferry Corsten, Above and Beyond, Hybrid, Darren Tate, The Prodigy, Push, Paul Van Dyk, Faithless, Solar Stone, Markus Schulz and Moby.
Time To Wait is also a very personal and emotional album. It is about holding on to a vision of what you want your life to be like, making the right choices and surviving the problems that come your way.

The new Advance One track "Lost Between Worlds" will shortly be available to download from MySpace, MP3.com and other music sites. It is available now at Soundclick and dmusic.
This is the final release version of the track, which will be featured on the new Advance One album "Time To Wait" planned for release later this month.
If you are a listener of BBC Radio 1, you can sign a petition to "Save dance music on Radio 1". The petition was set up by dance music fans in response to recent scheduling changes which have seen the station's long-running dance music shows pushed out of their popular Saturday/Sunday night timeslots. The new Advance One album "Time To Wait" is planned for release towards the end of November 2007. Before the release, the final version of track "Lost Between Worlds" will be available from various music sites such as MP3.com and MySpace, followed by the release of next track "Pathways" around the time of the album launch.

"Dreamer" is a relaxing summer chillout tune about dreaming up new ideas and thinking about the future. It is one of the more laidback tracks on the album, which also features trance, electro, and experimental tracks.

Work is ongoing on the next Advance One album, entitled "Time To Wait", which will be released some time in 2007. There are currently 15 tracks in progress though this is likely to be narrowed down to around 10 or 12 on final release.
The album will be a much more varied and experimental album, with a mix of moody, energetic and uplifting ambient, electro, dance and trance tracks.
Time To Wait is also a very personal and emotional album. It is about holding on to a vision of what you want your life to be and surviving the problems that come your way.

AudioJelly launches independent artists site

Dance music download store AudioJelly has launched a new store for independent artists to promote their music.
AJTunes.com allows unsigned artists to upload their tracks and sell at a price they choose.
AudioJelly was founded by Ricky Simmonds and Stephen Jones, better known as successful dance act The Space Brothers (as well as Lustral, Chakra and numerous other aliases) in order to promote new dance music.
The new site expands on this idea by promoting artists who are not signed to labels but want to showcase their tunes to a global audience.

MP3.com re-opens to independent artists

The MP3.com web site has finally started accepting song submissions from independent artists again.
In its early years, MP3.com was a big success as a venue for unsigned artists to share their music. However, the site abandoned independent artists after being bought by CNET in 2003 and in recent years has been more about providing information on the big label acts.
The new free artist space is a promising step in the right direction, although the service currently seems to have a few teething problems. Artists can sign up for a page now and start uploading their tracks, with a limit of 100mb storage space:

Back when MP3.com was at its peak, there was an artist page on the site for Advance One as well as several trance music stations. There was a strong community element to the site and it was a blow to many unsigned artists when it closed. It will be interesting to see how the new service fairs against modern-day rivals like MySpace.

Site Update August

Some changes to the web site today, including the removal of the preview clips from the album pages.
There are around 16 work-in-progress tracks for the next Advance One album, which will be narrowed down to about 10 on the final release. There is a mixture of long trance tracks, shorter funky/tech tracks and some dark ambience too.
The more experimental style of many of these tracks is inspired by artists such as Gabriel and Dresden and Ferry Corsten.

Avenue 26 - ElectroNYC released

The first release from the album ElectroCity will shortly be available on the new Avenue 26 artist pages at various music web sites.
"ElectroNYC" is an emotional electronica track which reflects on sorrow and great tragedy, but also finds hope and strength, becoming uplifting as it progresses. It features electro beats, moody basslines and swirling melodies.

This is the fourth release from the latest Advance One album and is an uplifting trance track about realising your ambitions.

Advance One - Endless Stars released

Second release from the album Ascension, "Endless Stars" is now available on the Advance One pages at various music download sites.
Originally starting life as a new mix of "See The Stars", the track has been through many different revisions.

Advance One - Solar Storm released

Taken from the album Ascension, "Solar Storm" has now been released on the Advance One artist pages at many of the major music download sites such as SoundClick, BandSpace and MP3Unsigned.
Solar Storm is the first Advance One track released on many of these sites since "See The Stars (Stellar mix)" back in 2004.

Web site launched.

After many months of preparation, the Audio Transition web site has finally launched. The site offers downloads of electronic music tracks from artist projects Advance One, Avenue 26 and Tranquilize.
The last two tracks for the new Advance One album Ascension were finished yesterday. "On This Day" was a recent replacement for another track that didn't quite fit the album. "Endless Stars" is an appropriate title - this song has been through endless revisions and 'Final' mixes...
